Ronny Blomme was born in Sleidinge, Belgium on September 20, 1963. In 1986, he received the Diploma degree in electrical engineering ("Burgerlijk elektrotechnisch ingenieur") from the University of Gent, Belgium. In 1988, he received the Master degree in Computer Science ("licentiaat in de informatica") from the same university.
Since September 1986 he has been working at the Department of Electronics and Information Systems of the University of Gent, as a research assistant in a project on Robotics.
Since February 1993, he is system manager at this department for IMEC-INVOMEC.

Ronny Blomme plays sliding trombone in a local band Fanfare Iever en Eendracht Sleidinge.
He plays classical organ music and sings in a local choir zangkoor Sint-Cecilia Sleidinge.
He is an active member of "de parochie Sleidinge" in "het dekenaat Evergem".
