Introduction
INVITATION
Numerical modelling of thin film solar cells evolved from a rather
exotic research topic in the early 80’s to a mature research
field and an accepted practice in the present.
This development was driven by the complicated structure of present
day thin film solar cells. Numerical modelling is a necessity for
the realistic description of these PV devices, both with the aim of
explaining advanced measurements and characterization, and of exploring
the cell’s performance limitations.
We warmly invite you to this workshop, one of the first dedicated
to numerical modelling of thin film solar cells.
SCOPE AND ORGANISATION
The scope of the three-day workshop is optical and electrical modelling
of thin film solar materials, cells and structures, based on the CIGS,
a-Si, µc-Si and thin film poly-Si material families.
The workshop is public: it is addressing researchers from both inside
and outside the EU-Athlet project. Especially young researchers are
welcome.
The first session is devoted to tutorials on the workshop core subjects
and on perspectives and applications from other fields. There will
be sessions with each contributed talks (4) and poster presentations
(~ 15). Ample occasion and time for questions and discussion will
be a key attention point of the workshop.
The final session will be a practicum-session with demonstrations
of existing simulation software, and with hands-on exercises on optical
and electrical simulation (different levels of advancement). The workshop
attendance will be limited to 100 persons.
