Thin films of Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ have been deposited by a sol-gel dip coat process. Structural details of these layers have been examined with XRD and found to be rhombohedral structures at 1000 C. The photoluminescence of the films was characterized by excitation and emission spectra. Thin films of Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ containing 5 mol% Mn2+, annealed at 1000 C for 2 h have shown a bright green luminescent color at 527 nm. The surface morphology of films made out of different dip coat solutions have been examined with SEM.
