A wavelength filter that switches between transmission of visible light in one frame and transmission of near infrared light in another frame is developed based on liquid crystal technology. The device consists of two filters for switching the visible light and one filter for switching the infrared light. The visible filters are based on guest-host liquid crystals, while the infrared filter is based on holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals. This filter is wanted to improve the characteristics of a time division color/depth sensor.
