MMLAB awarded at UMAP 2013

Ruben Verborgh, a researcher for iMinds–MMLab-UGent, is the winner for Best Poster Design at the User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization (UMAP 2013) conference. Ruben’s design breaks the “fourth wall” with an interactive poster allowing visitors to attach cardboard websites on the poster surface and place links of their own choosing to the poster.

The winning project, which was recognized for its creative visual design and effective information distribution, is a successful example of Ruben’s current research platform. His research surrounds automated link generation on the Web that optimizes information relevance based on user navigation.

The award is a big win for Ruben who strongly believes in both effective and creative communication for science.
