Research on thin film solar cells with copper indium selenide
at ELIS, University of Gent

Thin film solar cells with p-type semiconductor CuInSe2 and n-type semiconductor CdS are investigated.

Unitil the end of 1995, we studied the screenprinting-and-sintering technique, and own variations of this technique, as a fabrication technique for CdS-CuInSe2 cells. The emphasis of our work was on the formation and growth mechanisms of CuInSe2. We participated in the European research programme JOULE (EuroCIS I and EuroCIS II). This research was stopped in 1996.

Our present research deals with measurement - analysis and modelling of thin film solar cells, among them CuInSe2 cells. For more details, see our publications on CuInSe2 cells. At present, we are involved in research on copper indium sulphide (CuInS2) solar cells. Research staff involved was:

and former coworkers Marc Casteleyn and ir. Alex Niemegeers
